Types of Divorce in Canada
No-Fault Divorce
The most common ground for divorce in Canada. One year of separation is all that is required — no blame, no allegations. If there are no children, it is called a simple divorce.
Uncontested Divorce
An uncontested divorce is one where the other party does not defend or take exception to the terms of the application. Law Boutique specializes in uncontested, no-fault divorce applications — both with and without children.
Contested Divorce
When spouses cannot agree on custody, support, or property division, the matter becomes contested. These require litigation and court representation — we advocate firmly for your position throughout.
How we work: Law Boutique prepares and files all materials required for your divorce — most within 2 business days. We ensure your application is correct and complete, with divorces typically granted within two to four months of filing, depending on the court registry. Clients provide a government-issued marriage certificate and arrange to have a friend or family member serve their spouse with the application.

Legal fees are listed below. Third party costs — such as marriage certificates, process servers, and court costs (approximately $290) — are extra. If matters become contested or agreements take more than 3 hours to finalize, extra time is charged at $240–$650/hour based on the seniority of the lawyer.
